Withings is a company in Paris that holds the specialty of the development of connected objects. The first product produced by them was a body scale that came in the market in 2009. Now, it is time we say goodbye to Withings and welcome Nokia. Nokia has completed the acquisition of the smart device maker, having the process initiated less than a year ago. The company Nokia will now rebrand Withings under the Nokia umbrella from this summer.
From now onwards the existing line of smart watches, blood pressure monitors, thermometers and camera from Withings will come under the name of Nokia. A lot of news points out that the company plans to redesign the Health Mate app by Withings. The Health Mate app ties every device together that provides user will a 360 view of their health. This view of health will come in the form of a new HIPAA-compliant Patient care platform.
“Nokia is a powerful global brand that is synonymous with innovation, connectivity and great design,” said Cedric Hutchings, Nokia’s VP of Digital Health, Nokia in today’s press release. “Withings joined Nokia because we share a vision to inspire individuals to take control of their own health. With the full power of a brand recognized for trust, reliability and quality, we will reach more people and impact more lives to help the human family be healthier together.”
The rebranding is a nice move from Nokia which provides more exposure to the Withings brand. Nokia is more recognizable as compared to Withings-which does have its fair market but a niche smaller as compared to Nokia. The old branding will be taken over by the new one. This will lead to exposure to a more viable market.

HMD which is a smartphone licensee of Nokia’s brand took to other announcements at the Mobile World Congress as well. One of the major announcements is the launch of its retro phone 3310 that allows user to play snake games. Nostalgic much? Very much indeed!
