Rumors have been circulating on the internet for some time that Xiaomi is planning to launch a 120-watt charger. The device has now been certified by Chinese regulatory authority. The 120W charger could soon be added to current flagship models.
As Mysmartprice reports, the new 120-watt charger has been certified with the China Compulsory Certificate (3C). This confirms that Xiaomi is currently developing a 120W fast charger. The 120 watts are achieved with a voltage of 20 volts and a current of 6 amps. The certificate was issued on June 28th.
With the 120W Fast Charger, it would theoretically be possible to charge a 4000mAh battery in less than 15 minutes. In practice, however, it may take a little more time. To avoid damage to the battery, the charging speed is slowed down as soon as the capacity approaches a certain value. How fast a smartphone can actually be charged later with the 120W adapter is not yet known. So far it remains unclear which upcoming smartphones will be equipped with the new fast charger. It is likely that the next flagship of the Mi Mix series will be equipped with the 120W fast charge adapter. However, there is no official confirmation for this yet.
