Xiaomi Expecting to Sell 500,000 Mi MIX Fold this Year

We are already familiar with Xiaomi foldable devices. The company has done a great job in introducing its line of foldable smartphones. The demand for foldable smartphones has increased drastically, and now we hear that the company is expecting to ship 500,000 Xiaomi Mi MIX Fold in 2021.

According to a report, Xiaomi sat a record in a single season with 49 million units shipped in the first quarter of 2021. The company recorded the highest growth rate with more than 60%, making Xiaomi the fastest growing brand globally. In its home country, the company gained a 16% market share.

Moreover, the report further claimed that the global shipments of foldable smartphones would be nearly 4.5 million units in 2021.

It is said that the demand for polyimide film (CPI) will significantly increase. The colorless and transparent polyimide film (CPI – vastly found in smartphones, notebooks, and other foldable display devices) on the Xiaomi Mi MIX Fold is from Cologne Industries. Cologne Industries said that its CPI film solution currently has a market share of 90% in China.

There are two major technologies used to protect the foldable display surface: (1) colorless and transparent polyimide film (CPI) and (2) the ultra-thin film, strengthened glass (UTG). The latter is available on many Samsung foldable smartphones.
