YouTube Music is the first app to receive Chromecast support for the audio switcher of Android 13
Two years ago, Google introduced the audio output switcher shortcut. This audio output switcher shortcut was introduced for media player apps on android. However, the feature did not cover Chromecast and Google Cast devices in its list. As a result, the demand for support for such devices increased. Given the Android 13, Google has at last included support for Google Cast devices in the audio output switcher. YouTube Music is going to be the first app to support this feature.
The Android 13 QPR1 (Quarterly Platform Release 1) update was released by Google. It included support for Google Cast-compatible devices in the audio output switcher. The Pixel phones based on Android 13 QRP1 can now enjoy this feature. It is initially accessible via YouTube Music. All media playing as well as streaming apps need to implement this feature in order to support the latest audio output switcher with Cast compatibility.
As of now, users can’t see Cast devices in the audio output switcher of their Galaxy smartphone or tablet. It is because currently, Samsung has not executed this feature yet. These changes will be introduced via a future One UI 5.0 update. On the other hand, it could also be done by updating the Media Output module in the background. It might happen that Samsung introduces such a feature with the One UI 5.1 update to its devices, but it is not certain.
Routing audio to Bluetooth and Google Cast devices is a quite useful feature. Since the users are not required to unlock their phones and open the media playing app for switching audio to another device.
