YouTube’s picture-in-picture will now be available to free users in more regions
Since 2022, Google has provided picture-in-picture (PIP) on YouTube at no cost to users in the United States. The business does, however, continue to provide this function as part of the Premium subscription in other locations. That appears to be finally changing, though.
Google has reportedly started providing picture-in-picture on YouTube to select free users in Europe for the past few of weeks, according to sources on Reddit and Android Police. According to reports, both iOS and Android smartphones may now access the most recent update.
Regarding the matter, Google has not released a statement. In fact, the firm continues to state that in order to view PIP outside of the US, you will need YouTube Premium. Is it therefore feasible that users have had access to the functionality for free due to bug? Although, nothing can be confirmed just yet.
It is important to note that picture-in-picture must be manually enabled. To accomplish that, navigate to YouTube, click the profile icon in the lower-right corner of the screen, press the Settings button in the upper-right corner of the screen, select General, and turn on picture-in-picture settings. If Google has truly begun to provide PIP at no cost in Europe, it may eventually extend this offer to other regions.
