HBO Max will be replaced With a New Service In 2023
In itself, the streaming service HBO Max had a successful start: not only can it convince with numerous quality productions, but it has certainly attracted customers. Still, that’s not enough for the new management, and that means replacing HBO Max. HBO Max was launched in the US more than two years ago and has more than 70 million subscribers, according to the latest officially announced figures.
That’s a long way from Disney+ (nearly 140 million) and Netflix (some 220 million), but they seemed on the right track. But the new management of Warner Bros Discovery, the new media giant created by the merger of WarnerMedia and Discovery, may not be happy with HBO Max’s current performance. New CEO David Zaslav said in a conference call with investors that HBO Max “has a competitive array of features” but also “performance and customer issues.”

As The Verge writes, Zaslav mainly means the technical basis of the streaming service, because apparently there are always serious problems here at peak times. Discovery Plus, on the other hand, is technically on much better ground and that is also the goal of the new boss.
Specifically, Discovery Plus and HBO Max will merge into a new joint service, Zaslav was also very optimistic here, saying, “We believe this product will be excellent.” It is not yet known what exactly is planned.
HBO Max subscribers should or can expect the worst, though, as last week Zaslav showed no mercy when it comes to restructuring the company. So he canceled the Batgirl movie after the shooting had already ended.
