Apple’s voice assistant can now start a screen recording in iOS 16.5 Beta 1

Siri

Apple has introduced some amazing features with the iOS 16.5 beta for Siri. Notably, the company is working to enhance the functionality of the voice assistant. Now users can start a screen recording with Siri. Just say ‘Hey ‌Siri‌, start a screen recording’ and you are good to use the Screen Record feature.

When this feature is activated, the screen of the iPhone will be recorded until or unless the user clicks and turns it off. In other cases, the user can activate Siri and give the command “Stop the screen recording.” One thing to notice here is that a user must be careful with the words used for giving a command. As the words ‘take a screen recording’ will end in capturing a screenshot rather than a video recording. Previously, Siri was provided with the screenshot feature. However, given the new beta Siri will now have the capacity for screen recording.

In the previous version of iOS, when a user commanded Siri to start a screen recording, the voice assistant carries out a web search or responds that the user doesn’t have any such app. iOS 16.5 was rolled out yesterday to developers. It can be expected that the public beta will arrive later by this week. Besides the screen recording feature, Apple has introduced a Sports tab in the Apple News app. We will find out more details as the public rollout approaches.
