You can now start two-times-larger group calls with WhatsApp

Did you know that you can now begin larger audio and video calls on WhatsApp? Yes, you read it right. The company has rolled out the recent update in its Android version (v2.23.15.14) of the app. Reportedly, users can make a group call with almost 15 participants. Thankfully, it is double the previous number of members that could be added to a group call.

In April 2022, the company enabled video and voice call in groups with up to a maximum of 32 members. Besides this, there is a restriction to the number of participants that could be added to a call since the beginning. Users are required to pre-select seven or fewer members before starting a group call. In case, a user wishes to add other members to the group call they must be added manually.

To cater to this problem, the company is increasing the participant limit to 15 people. WABetaInfo reports that users can pre-select 15 members before starting a group call. The participant limit remains at 32 given the group calls on WhatsApp. The new feature is currently in the beta phase. It could be rolled out to the general public in the upcoming weeks via the stable version of the app.

More new features are on their way for WhatsApp

WhatsApp has merged as a more comprehensive communication tool over the past few years. although it lacks certain features that are presented on Zoom and Google Meet. However, given the functionality, WhatsApp is far more capable than these platforms. Over the course of the previous few months, Meta has introduced several new and useful features to the platform like screen sharing and group video calls.

Besides this, the company has improved the overall security of the platform. Users can now conceal their phone numbers in Communities. They can silence calls, chat with new phone numbers, pin and unpin messages, and others. In addition to this, the stable version of the app is now available on Wear OS smartwatches.
