The Xiaomi 14 Ultra’s primary camera may get a wider variable aperture
The variable aperture of a smartphone has the capacity to adjust to different lighting conditions, which is quite helpful. Several tipsters have kind of confirmed that the upcoming Xiaomi 14 Ultra will feature variable aperture. It was expected that the company could ditch the dual aperture and replace it with a variable one.
The tipster Digital Chat Station shared on Weibo that the Xiaomi 14 Ultra will include four 50MP rear cameras. On the other hand, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra also features four rear cameras. The main camera has support for a dual aperture that can swap between an f/1.6 and f/4.0 aperture. Well, this is great but not as compelling as Huawei, which offers a 10-stop variable aperture on its smartphones.
Is the variable aperture set to 10 stops, in line with Huawei?
According to reports, the flagship smartphones of the company will also feature the variable aperture. The upcoming Xiaomi 14 Ultra will feature a multi-stop variable aperture; however, there are no further details about it. Is the offering going to be three stops, four stops, or ten stops? We’ll just have to wait and find out.
Under the Xiaomi 14 series, the company has already debuted the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro (flagship smartphones) in China. The smartphones are expected to enter the global market in Q1 2024. That’s not the case with the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, though. That phone is going to arrive later. The Xiaomi 14 Ultra may arrive a year later, or perhaps a little earlier, than the Xiaomi 13 Ultra, which debuted in April 2022.
