Apple is developing new AI tools for iPhones in an effort to keep up with Samsung
In 2023, we witnessed the immense adoption and proliferation of generative AI across different segments of the tech industry. However, the game is not over yet. In other words, we can say that it is just the beginning. After Google and Samsung, the Cupertino-based tech firm Apple is all set to introduce several generative AI features to the next generation of its smartphones via iOS 17.
With a strong emphasis on artificial intelligence, Samsung launched 2024 with the Galaxy S24, which will make its debut at Unpacked on January 17 and serve as the company’s first “AI phone.” It’s unclear exactly what this entails, but the Galaxy S24 is anticipated to have onboard LLM capabilities and more efficient AI functions.
In the meantime, tech giant Google is working to improve its Bard LLM. It is expected that the forthcoming Galaxy S24 series might arrive with some Bard features. According to rumors, Apple is developing new AI features for its next generation of mobile devices in an effort to keep up with its rivals.
Apple will unveil its work on AI at WWDC this year
Bloomberg reports that the company will unveil its work on AI-based features for the next version of iOS at WWDC in June. According to reports, Apple’s AI will include features that let users construct apps in Xcode, auto-completion and auto-summarization capabilities in programs like Keynote and Pages and some AI components for Apple Music that let users make playlists automatically.
In addition to this, Siri is expected to undergo a significant overhaul. It might be equipped with generative AI capabilities by the end of the year. With the two biggest phone manufacturers, Apple and Samsung, adopting AI, it appears that a new age in the mobile market may be upon us, one in which yearly hardware improvements will no longer be insufficient to differentiate oneself.
