Trump Mobile Unveils Golden T1 Phone – But Ordering It Is a Disaster

Donald Trump is now also selling smartphones. Trump Mobile’s golden T1 can already be pre -ordered. However, the ordering process is a chaotic disaster. The website crashes and incorrect amounts are debited from credit cards.

Trump smartphone with a horror start

What sounded like a joke is meant seriously: Donald Trump has a new business idea and now also sells smartphones according to his own meme coin. The Golden T1 from Trump Mobile has been pre -ordered for $499 since Monday – at least theoretically. However, the entire process develops into a disaster for buyers. The website seems to be frighteningly unprofessional and amateurish.

The journalist Joseph Cox from 404 Media Had tried to order the T1 phone. However, according to his statement, the process was “the worst experience that I have ever had when buying an electronic product”. Because during the ordering process, the website crashed and threw it onto an error page.

Instead of the announced $100 (around 87 euros) down payment, his credit card was burdened with an enigmatic amount of $64.70 (around 56 euros). It was particularly strange that Cox received an order confirmation with the note that he would receive another email as soon as the smartphone was sent. However, the journalist had not yet given any delivery address during the canceled ordering process.

Website completely blocks buyers

When Cox tried to log back into his account on the website, he was immediately forwarded to another error page that completely locked it out. According to the journalist, the Trump Mobile website on the day of the announcement was generally very slow, which indicates a possible overload of the system.

The problems are not only limited to the technical ordering process. There are also numerous mistakes and inconsistencies on the product page of the T1 Phone. For example, it is not mentioned which processor the device drives. In an earlier version of the website, the battery was also strangely described with “5000mah Long Life Camera”, ie “5000mah durable camera”. And the arrangement of the three camera lenses on the back also seems strange, especially since two of them are only said to be 2-megapixel sensors.

Doubts about the “Made in USA” promise

In addition to the chaotic ordering process, the T1 Phone also raises questions from a technical point of view. According to Trump, the smartphone should be “made in USA” – which, according to the U.S. trade commission FTC, means that the product is “completely or almost completely or almost completely” produced and assembled in the USA. However, experts consider this unrealistic.

Compared to the Wall Street Journal Tinglong Dai, professor at the Johns Hopkins University: “It is absolutely impossible to produce the screen, the memory, the camera, the battery and everything else in the USA.” The United States currently has no significant smartphone production capacity. Even Apple, the largest American smartphone seller, has his iPhones mainly manufactured in China and India. A complete smartphone production in the USA would require massive investments in new manufacturing facilities and supply chains that have not yet existed.

The golden smartphone is to be delivered in August or September 2025 and run with Android 15. Until then, however, Android 16 should already be available. With its 6.8-inch amoled display, twelve GB RAM and 256 GB memory, the T1 Phone on paper sometimes offers decent specifications for its price of $ 500. However, it remains questionable whether the device is actually manufactured in the United States as promised and the promised delivery dates can be observed.

Trump’s business ideas

The T1 Phone is part of a long list of Trump products that the US President has marketed in the past. In addition to luxury hotels and golf resorts, Trump already sold golden sneakers for $ 399, the “God Bless the USA” bible for $ 60, digital collection cards and finally its own cryptocurrency $ Trump. The smartphone should now expand the portfolio – but with considerable technical problems when sales start.
