Microsoft starts Optional update for Windows 10

Microsoft has now also added an optional and non -safety -relevant update for Windows 10. It is the preview for July Patch Day. Although there is no feature offensive, the update brings many improvements.

These are an overview of the changes

Despite the approaching support end for Windows 10, Microsoft continues to publish monthly updates with a variety of changes. The Latest version, Build 19045.6036 this time, however, only brings improvements under the hood and error loans. This is not unusual – after all, Windows 10 is no longer actively developed. Among other things, a problem was remedied that led to jumping lists from the start menu. In addition, it could be that the start menu was not started after installing an update.

KB5061087 available now

The optional update KB5061087 is now in Microsoft Update catalog and available via the Windows update function. To do this, select in the settings> Update & Security> Windows Update. In the “Available Optional Updates” area, new updates with a link to download and install are displayed. Optional updates differ fundamentally from Patch-Day updates. They do not contain any security -critical changes, but improvements such as new drivers, functional updates or optimizations for certain hardware.

These updates are not installed automatically, so each user decides whether the optional updates are installed or not. In the past, these updates were known as a C-update. As usual, the distribution of the update content will automatically start patch-day for all users in June via the Windows update function.
