ROG Xbox Ally Pricing Revealed Early — Shock in the Gaming Community

The prices for the highly expected Rog Xbox Ally Handhelds have apparently become known prematurely. The gaming devices developed by Microsoft and Asus could become significantly more expensive than the competition.

Pulled prices shock gaming community

Microsoft and Asus presented their jointly developed handheld consoles Rog Xbox Ally and Rog Xbox Ally X in June, but without specific prices. Now this information has apparently accidentally reached the public. As could be seen by an error on the Asus website, the base model ROG Xbox Ally is to be offered for 599 euros, while the more powerful X version could cost with a whopping 899 euros. According to the official announcement, the two handhelds should appear before Christmas this year. The standard model will be equipped with an AMD Ryzen Z2 a processor, 16 GB LPDDR5 storage and a 512 GB SSD. The premium variant ROG Xbox Ally X, on the other hand, offers the more powerful AMD Ryzen Ai Z2 Extreme Chip, 24 GB LPDDR5X RAM, a 1 TB SSD and a larger 80-apartment battery compared to 60 Wh in the standard model.

According to the Spanish Gaming website 3djuegos the prices were accidentally displayed in a Google product preview that moved into metadata directly from the ASUS website. The leaked prices correspond exactly to those of the current ASUS ROG Ally handhelds in Europe, which indicates that Microsoft and Asus are planning a similar price strategy for their Xbox variants. The pricing positions the ROG Xbox Ally well above the competition. For comparison: The Steam Deck from Valve is available from 419 euros, while the OLED variant starts at 569 euros. Nintendo Switch 2 came onto the market with a RRP of 469.99 euros.

Windows 11 with Xbox optimization

Technically speaking, the ROG Xbox Ally devices will not be pure Xbox consoles, but Windows 11 devices with special optimizations. Unlike the original ROG Ally, Asus will do without its typical Armoury Crate Special Edition software and instead offer a Steamos-like Xbox space surface. This is intended to convey console players a familiar feeling in the PC gaming area. Users continue to have access to the usual Windows desktop interface and can access games of various platforms such as Steam, Gog, Battle.net and Ubisoft.
