Apple iPhone 18 Pro: Battery capacities of the upcoming model leaked

Apple is expected to use only slightly larger batteries in the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro. By switching to pure eSIM models in Europe, buyers benefit from more space in the housing. In addition, an efficient chip ensures longer runtimes.
iPhone 18 Pro batteries grow minimally
Next September, Apple is expected to present the new iPhone 18 Pro, as always. Current unconfirmed leaks suggest that the upcoming smartphones will be equipped with slightly larger batteries. However, the increase in pure storage capacity is rather small compared to the previous model, the iPhone 17 Pro. Nevertheless, users could ultimately benefit from noticeably longer running times. The main reason for the different battery sizes is the design of the devices. Models that rely exclusively on an electronic SIM card, the so-called eSIM, offer more space inside.
Without the physical SIM slot, the company can install a slightly larger power storage unit; specifically, the eSIM version has almost 230 mAh more. So far, such variants have primarily been used on the American market. Since the manufacturer is now expected to introduce the pure eSIM models on the European market, buyers in this country will automatically receive the variant with the higher capacity in the future. This means real hardware advantages for users in Europe. In previous generations they often received the version with the slightly smaller battery.
Concrete numbers through new leaks
As Digital Chat Station states (via MacRumors), the manufacturer is currently testing various prototypes of the new model series. The information probably comes from the Asian supply chain and should be viewed as unconfirmed for the time being. According to the leaked information, the iPhone 18 Pro with eSIM offers 4288 mAh, which is an increase of 36 mAh. The iPhone 18 Pro with SIM slot has 4056 mAh and gains 68 mAh. The capacity of the iPhone 18 Pro Max with eSIM is between 5100 and over 5200 mAh. Although the mere increase in the size of the electricity storage seems marginal on paper, the actual running time in everyday life is likely to increase significantly.
The upcoming Apple smartphone will be powered by the new A20 Pro processor. The chip is manufactured using the two-nanometer process by the manufacturer TSMC; the technology enables significantly higher energy efficiency while simultaneously increasing performance. In addition, according to the rumors, a new 5G modem with the internal name C2 will be used. The component not only promises better mobile phone reception, but also reduces the device’s general power consumption. How do you rate devices without a physical SIM slot? Does the loss bother you or do the advantages of the larger battery outweigh the disadvantages for you? Feel free to share your opinion with us in the comments. See also:
