Google Officially Launches Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5: Price Availability And Features
Google has officially announced its new flagships for the year 2020, the long-rumored Google Pixel 4a 5G and Google Pixel 5 are finally on the table. Google has announced the devices with key features and prices along with countries the phone is launched during the live event a few hours ago.

It is difficult to find differences between the two smartphones because the differences lie in the details. For example, materials: polycarbonate for Pixel 4a 5G, recycled aluminum for Pixel 5. IP68 certification for the latter, no certification for the first. And then yes, Pixel 5 has more RAM and a larger refresh screen, but what do you want it to matter to most users? Same processor, same cameras, and widely comparable displays: in the end, the user experience will be very similar. In fact, the Pixel 4a 5G has the audio jack, while the Pixel 5 doesn’t (because removing features is considered premium by now), as reported.
And the price difference? 200 dollars: 499 for the 4th 5G and 699 for the Pixel 5. The reasonable figure for the former, much less for the second, if you think that at 700 dollars (and even less) you will find smartphones with Snapdragon 865 and at least 3 rear cameras. But it doesn’t end there, because Google makes a real mockery of Italy. How so? In the UK, France, and Germany pre-ordering pixel 5 or 4a 5G, you’ll have a complimentary pair of Bose QC 35 II, and the prices aren’t even bad: 499 and 629 euros respectively for the Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5.
After 5 years, in short, Google’s “smartphone strategy” not only changes course every year but still doesn’t seem to have learned the basics, that is, you can’t offer premium-priced a premium smartphone (unless you call yourself Apple). Not to mention the fact that the Pixel 5 isn’t even that premium if you compare it to the various OnePlus or Xiaomi that orbit that price range (or even less).
In all this it should also be pointed out that the unlock with safe face detection has gone, which we so much appreciated on Pixel 4, replaced by a traditional fingerprint reader on the back. In many ways, Google has deleted what it had done last year in fact, and it is broken down, both aesthetically and functionally. The rear zoom camera, replaced by a wide-angle, is also leaving, which the audience was clamoring for (but why does it necessarily at the expense of zooming?).
Among the new software, we have portrait light, which allows you to change the lighting of a portrait, as shown by the GIF above. Being all done via software, you can also apply it in post-production, via Google Photos, which leaves us thinking that this feature will come for everyone sooner or later.
Other news: Google pushes on videos. Among the new features is a cinematic pan call, to capture freehand fluid movements, mostly in slow motion 2x, so that even an ordinary movement can seem cinematic.
There’s also a new Extreme Battery Saver mode, which looks a lot like what we’ve already seen on other smartphones, which limits all features to just the essential ones and any additional apps you choose. Overall it seems a feature already seen on many other Android, which helps in emergency situations, but nothing more.
