A report suggests that the foldable market could undergo major changes

In 2021, Oppo introduced its foldable smartphone. Vivo, on the other hand, entered the foldable market in 2022. Vivo is known for manufacturing foldable smartphones for the local Chinese market. However, both companies are consistent with their fresh foldable offerings each year.

According to a new report from a South Korean publication, Oppo and Vivo might leave the foldable market. Well, we can expect something similar from OnePlus. In the meantime, other players in the foldable market are experimenting with new options, like Huawei, which is reportedly working on a tri-foldable phone, and Samsung, which is testing a rollable display phone.

There is no official information on this matter from the two companies. Perhaps we will learn more about it in the future. According to the report, the two companies might abandon the foldable market because of the significant decline observed during the last year.

According to reports, Huawei, one of the industry’s early leaders in foldable phones, is working on a Z-shaped tri-foldable gadget targeted at the tablet PC market. When unfolded, this device may offer up to 10 inches of screen. Huawei hopes to sell more than 130 million of these devices annually.

When it comes to the tablet PC market, Apple currently holds a 40% market share and dominates the segment. The second place is secured by Samsung, with a 19 percent market share. It is said that Apple and Samsung are working on improving their foldable products in response to Huawei’s innovations.

It is rumored that Samsung, which has a 66 percent market share in the foldable phone market in 2023, is developing a rollable display phone as well as a potentially tri-foldable device akin to Huawei’s. Apple is reportedly working on its first foldable phone that will be horizontal, and production is anticipated to begin in 2026.
