Advantages and disadvantages of a MicroLED TV

MicroLED display technology is different in contrast to LCD and OLED display technology. One main difference between the OLED and MicroLED display technology is that MicroLED doesn’t utilize pixels that are made from organic materials. Advantages of a MicroLED

A MicroLED TV is unique since it is a combination of the best features of LCD TVs and OLED TVs. It has the capacity to:

• do not present the problem of pixel burn-in
• have a longer shelf life

Disadvantages of a MicroLED

MicroLED is a recent technology. It is quite expensive to develop a MicroLED panel. For this reason, they are considered only a luxury. Since they are acquired by consumers who can spend tens of thousands of dollars. They are not accessible to the average consumer. Although the company has stepped into this business for almost four years now, still it is incapable of selling MicroLED TVs as a standalone unit. It is required to combine several MicroLED modules in order to make a TV in accordance with the size and shape requirements.

In addition to this, the pixels are not so small that they could retain 4K resolution (8.3 million pixels) in an area as small as 55 inches. For this reason, it can’t be said that a 55-inch MicroLED will present a 4K resolution. One of the most compact MicroLED that is made by Samsung is the 110-inch TV with 4K resolution. Besides this, the company has unveiled a 50-inch MicroLED panel. However, no information regarding its resolution has been shared as yet. But some reports suggest that its resolution would be similar to QHD.

To sum up, the disadvantages of a MicroLED are:

• high cost
• too big, not small enough to accommodate the space in most homes

On the other hand, MicroLED is considered the best in display technology. But the fact is that it doesn’t lie in the affordable range. It will for sure require some time before a MicroLED becomes capable enough to substitute OLED, QD-OLED, and Mini-LED TVs.
