Analysts claim that ChatGPT is the web app with the quickest growth rate ever

In November 2022, OpenAI introduced ChatGPT. Since then it has taken the internet world by storm. It has gained immense popularity among users. UBS collected and compiled some data that indicate that ChatGPT is one of the fastest-growing web apps in the history of the internet. As of January, the web app has acquired almost 100 million monthly active users.

Similarweb is an analytics company. It is responsible for monitoring web traffic. As per the data from Similarweb, during January 2023, 13 million unique users on average visited the website. It is double as compared to the numbers recorded in December 2022. When compared to some other popular apps like TikTok and Instagram it took them a time span of almost nine months and 2.5 years to reach such numbers. In fact, the number of users continues to grow for ChatGPT. The UBS analyst mentioned that such a faster ramp for a web app is not observed in the twenty years history of following internet space.

Basically, ChatGPT is fueled by GPT-3.5. It works like a chatbot. It can perform tasks upon request, carry out conversations, deny requests that are inappropriate, and admit mistakes. Besides all these, it is not perfect. Most people are attracted because of its ability to generate text. It can answer questions, write essays, codes, and more. Similar to other AI models, it doesn’t have an understanding of texts. Since it can generate text that is misleading, ridiculous, or even toxic.

Different businesses have started utilizing the services of ChatGPT in the areas of content marketing and customer services. Computer scientists are utilizing it for experimentation across domains of medicine or law. On the other hand, universities, schools, and research journals have prohibited the specified communities from using the chatbot.

Due to the increase in the popularity of text-generation models, companies are working out to build software that can identify AI-generated text. Even OpenAI is working on such software. Currently, the web app is experiencing a huge number of visitors. For this reason, it is often not available. The company is rolling out subscription plans in order to ensure the availability of seamless services.
