Android passkey support is coming soon to X (Twitter)

Elon Musk’s Social media app X (formerly Twitter) has received a number of new features in the last few weeks. Musk want X to turn in an everything platform. For this reason, the app is continuously improved with updates and new features. The company is even working on to improve the security of the platform.

The adoption of passkey support on various apps and service sis increasing with every passing day. Back in January, the iOS app of X (formerly Twitter) received passkey support. According to some recent pieces of information, the same feature will be soon introduced to the Android version of the app.

The information comes from AssembleDebug on TheSpAndroid. According to the source, code strings regarding the passkey support feature were found in the latest beta version 10.32.0 of the app for Android. Interestingly, the source was able to turn on the feature. After they turned it on, the app displayed an option labeled “Enable passkeys for additional protection that may be linked to your biometrics.”

The new feature can be found in Settings and Privacy. Under this category click on Security and account access then press Security. You will get the access to the new feature. Currently, the feature is non-functional. It means that it is currently under-development. As soon as the feature gets ready, it will be rolled out to the beta version of the app for further testing. Once the final testing is done, it will make its way to the stable version of the app. Only then, users will be able to utilize their phone’s or tablet’s fingerprint scanner or facial recognition system for authenticating their identity.
