Apple introduces new 60W and 240W USB-C charge cables

Apple unveiled the new iPhone 15 series on Tuesday, September 12. In addition to the series, the company has introduced a few related accessories as well, like a one-meter Thunderbolt 4 Pro cable and a USB-C to Lightning adapter. Besides this, the company debuted two new USB-C charge cables, including the 60W 1-meter USB-C charge cable and the 240W USB-C charge cable.

Notably, the 60W cable measures 1 meter in length and is available for $19. On the other hand, the 240W USB-C charge cable measures 2 meters in length and comes with a price tag of $29. Both of these charge cables can be used to charge iPads, Macs, and iPhone 15 models.

The new woven charge cable from Apple is marketed as “ideal for charging, sharing, and transmitting data across USB-C devices.” It has USB-C ports on both ends. It can transport data at USB 2 speeds and allow charging up to 240 watts. Notably, the new cable is compatible with all members of the iPhone 15 series, and the company’s latest iPads and Mac series. The device can be charged by connecting the cable with a similar USB-C power adapter.

Despite having a USB-C port, the new iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus can only transfer data at USB 2.0 speeds of up to 480 Mbps, which is equivalent to the Lightning port on older iPhones. On the other hand, the high-end iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max support USB 3 data transfer speeds of up to 10 Gbps through a cable. Given this fact, Apple has debuted its Thunderbolt 4 Pro cable in one-meter size for $69.
