Apple launches second iOS 15.6 beta update for developers

Apple has released the second beta version for iOS 15.6. Interestingly, there is still little information about what new features the update will bring. It is not yet known when the beta testing phase in the public program with a new update will start. In mid-May, in the developer testing program, Apple launched the first beta for the next iOS 15 update, now coming in round 2.

As with the first version, Apple seems to be focusing only on bug fixes and improvements – so iOS 15.6 should become an update released for maintenance only with no new features. even in the Developer Release Notes very little information is listed for iOS 15.6. The new developer build is numbered 19G5037d. Updates to tvOS 15.6, HomePod Software, macOS, and watchOS 8.7 are also available.

For iOS 15.6, mainly new things “under the hood” are expected, i.e. basically only improvements and bug fixes.

Join the beta program

Participation in the beta program is free and requires a one-time registration for the program beta.apple.com/sp/en/betaprogram of the corresponding device. This also applies to all beta versions that Apple is testing, so iPhone, iPad, Watch, Mac, and TV. To do this, users need to enter their Apple ID and then get the update automatically through the update function. New versions are then automatically downloaded to the device.

The new version is now available to registered users as an over-the-air update. Testing of the beta versions is always at your own risk and should not be performed on the production system. iOS 15.6 should be completed in a few weeks.
