Apple launches the first beta of iOS 15.6 too early

Shortly after the release of iOS 15.5, Apple has now released the first public beta for iOS 15.6 and iPadOS 15.6. This is now faster than expected – but nothing is known about the new features that have been included. So far, Apple has only released the developer beta.

The new version of the operating system is now entering the testing phase. Apple hasn’t announced any details for iOS 15.6 yet – so very little information is available. In the Developer Release Notes there is still no indication of the upcoming changes. That AppleInsider online magazine is therefore already speculating whether this next iOS version will bring visible changes to users at all, or whether this update will only focus on improvements and bug fixes.

The build number for the developer version of iOS 15.6 and iPadOS 15.6 is 19G5027e. End users can’t download the iOS beta yet.

How to join the beta program

Only registered developers are currently getting the first beta for iOS 15.6. But that could soon change. Participation in the beta program is free and requires a one-time registration for the program beta.apple.com/sp/en/betaprogram of the corresponding device. This also applies to all beta versions that Apple is testing, so iPhone, iPad, Watch, Mac, and TV. To do this, users need to enter their Apple ID and then get the update automatically through the update function.

New versions are then automatically downloaded to the device. The new version is now available to registered users as an over-the-air update. Testing of the beta versions is always at your own risk and should not be performed on the production system. iOS 15.6 should be ready in a few weeks, a long development time is not expected. In addition to the initial betas for iOS and iPadOS, there are also pre-release versions for macOS Monterey 12.5, tvOS 15.6 Dev Beta 1, watchOS 8.7, and HomePod Software 15.6.
