Apple launches the second generation of HomePod

The second generation of HomePod by Apple has been officially launched as of today. It is accompanied by a new smart speaker that can be accessed via Apple Stores in the U.S. and select other regions. Consumers can even pre-order the new product. While it has been officially launched, there is no need for pre-ordering.

The online store or App Store Apple is provided the latest product. Users can order a HomePod for Apple Store pickup. While ordering, the users will be provided with the option “I’ll pick it up” during checkout. Enter the details like postal code or ZIP code. Select the nearby Apple Store location. Choose a pickup date and 15-minute check-in window.

The new product is available for $299. It is currently offered in two color options i.e., Midnight and White. The new product appears quite similar to the original HomePod. Where the original HomePod was abandoned by the company in 2021. However, the new product includes several design modifications as well as modern features.

When it comes to the design of the product, the second-generation ‌HomePod‌ has a sophisticated design. It has a larger backlit touch surface. It is provided with a removable power cable. In contrast to the original model, the new HomePod has five tweeters [7 in original] and four far-field microphones [6 in original]. Moreover, it is accompanied by new temperature and humidity sensors.

It is fueled by the S7 chip by Apple. It is supplied with Thread support. In addition to this, it has a U1 Ultra Wideband chip that supports music handoff. Furthermore, it has support for Wi-Fi 802.11n connectivity. Spatial Audio support is also a part of the new HomePod. Two HomePods have the capacity to function as a stereo pair. However, one thing to be noticed here is that the new HomePod can’t be paired with the original model of the HomePod. As of now, the device is available in Italy, Japan, Spain, the UK, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, the US, and 11 other countries.
