Apple released the 3rd beta of iOS 15.5

Apple has released the third beta version for iOS 15.5 and iPadOS 15.5. This time, the release of the public test version followed shortly after the start of the developer beta. One major change has already leaked. Not much is known about the innovations for the third beta version of iOS 15.5. However, there is one big change in the Photos app.

Apple has launched a feature that excludes certain “sensitive” locations (marked with latitude and longitude) from photo memories. These are, for example, the Holocaust Memorial in Berlin, the Auschwitz-Birkenau Concentration Camp, the Yad Vashem Memorial, and the Anne Frank House. Photos of these places will not appear in the personalized memories. Other changes have not yet been leaked. However, the developer release notes state that there are mainly changes under the hood – as well as some known issues. A quick start for all users is therefore not yet expected.

Earlier this month, Apple launched the first beta of its public testing program. One of the new features and improvements of iOS 15.5 and iPadOS 15.5 that will be launched is the preview of Passkey technology (authentication method) that can be used to log in to websites. In addition, a new classical music app is launched with “Apple Classical,” iTunes Pass is rebranded as Apple Balance, and Apple is making improvements to the Apple Pay Cash feature in the US. In addition, there are mainly new things “under the hood” for iOS 15.5, many improvements, and bug fixes.

Here is how to join the beta program

Participation in the beta program is free and requires a one-time registration for the program beta.apple.com/sp/en/betaprogram of the corresponding device. This also applies to all beta versions that Apple is testing, so iPhone, iPad, Watch, Mac, and TV. To do this, users need to enter their Apple ID and then get the update automatically through the update function.

New versions are then automatically downloaded to the device. The new version is now available to registered users as an over-the-air update. Testing the beta versions is always at your own risk and should not be performed on the productive system. iOS 15.5 should be completed in a few weeks.
