Apple Started 4th iOS 14.2 Beta Along With New Wallpapers

Apple has released a new iOS 14.2 beta. The update was initially released for developers, but should also be launched shortly for participants in the public beta. New wallpapers for iOS and iPadOS have been added.

Which innovations are hidden in the new beta version is not yet known. The most noticeable changes are new, wintery images for the screen background. The reporter 9to5Mac makes the wallpapers available for download. You can already use them now without being a beta tester. The testers are currently trying to find out what else is new in the fourth beta version of iOS 14.2. Mainly there are improvements under the hood and many bug fixes.

The update only started recently and therefore there are still few references to the content. The innovations for iOS 14.2 that have already been announced include improved integration of the Shazam music recognition software, new emojis, and new AirPlay 2 control displays. Otherwise, according to the first reports on the Apple blogs, there is currently not much new to try out. In any case, the new beta contains a large number of improvements and bug fixes.

How to take part in the beta program

As usual, the new beta updates start first for registered developers. An update for end-users in the public test program should follow soon. Once distributed, it will be available via the over-the-air update. Those who have not yet registered for the public beta program can do so. Participation is free and requires a one-time registration for the program at https://beta.apple.com/sp/en/betaprogram from the correspondingly supported device. The Apple ID is required for this. Once you have registered, you will automatically receive new beta versions as with any other update. However, one should keep in mind that, as with any beta version, unforeseen problems could arise. It is therefore better not to use your productive iPhone, but a second device for the tests. Since iOS 14 is supported from the iPhone 6s onwards, one or the other may still have an old device in the drawer. With the updates, the regular schedule should now continue every two weeks.
