Apple Starts the 4th beta version of iOS 16 for developers

Apple has just released the fourth beta version for iOS 16. The new version also brings changes for German users. Initially, however, the update will only launch for developers who have signed up for the test program.

Naked scanner starts

With the start of the fourth beta round as part of the iOS 16 developer test, Apple has released a host of changes. However, many details have not yet been leaked. The release notes are mostly about bug fixes.

Apple has now also released the so-called naked scanner for photos in the news app. This scanner is a parental control feature and part of Family Sharing. If you want to try it out, you have to activate the scanner once in the settings. Apple is now activating the option for users of the iOS 16 beta in Germany and France. If there is more information about the contents of this update in time, we will provide it later.

The new developer build is number 20A5328h and replaces build 20A5312g. Updates to iPadOS 16 and tvOS have also entered another round. Since Apple released the first public beta version of iOS about 14 days ago, which all registered users can try out, Apple should also update the public beta version soon.

How to join the beta program

Participation in the beta program is free and requires a one-time registration beta.apple.com/sp/en/betaprogram from a supported device. This also applies to all beta versions that Apple is testing, so iPhone, iPad, Watch, Mac, and TV.

Users need to deposit their Apple ID for this and then receive the update through the update function. New versions are then automatically downloaded to the device. The fourth beta version is now available to registered developers as an over-the-air update. Testing of preliminary versions is always at your own risk and should not be performed on the production system.

iOS 16 will start in the fall with further updates for iPadOS, macOS, and watchOS. There is no exact date yet, traditionally the updates should appear in September. Apple previewed the new capabilities and features of iOS 16 at the WWDC developer conference in early June. Apple, Software, iOS 16 Beta, iOS16 Beta.
