Apple Store Robbed In New York: Man Steals $100,000 Worth Of iPhones

In New York City, a man is said to have been mugged after making a really, really big purchase at the city’s largest Apple store, allegedly having nearly $100,000 worth of iPhones stolen from there. There are, however, some dubious details.

A man was robbed of a large number of iPhones after exiting the Apple Store on 5th Avenue this week, according to a report by New York radio station 1010Wins, which in turn is said to be based on information from the New York Police Department (NYPD).

300 iPhone 13 Models in three bags

During his visit to the Apple store, the man purchased a total of around 300 iPhone 13 models, which he wanted to sell to his customers as a reseller. The devices were packed in three bags by employees of the store.

After leaving the store, the man was then attacked in his car by two robbers, against whom he defended himself and was injured. The attackers then fled in a car with one of the three bags full of iPhones. In total, devices worth almost $100,000 are said to have been stolen. The total value of the bulk purchase at the Apple Store is said to be around $300,000.

There are some curious details surrounding the case that make the whole thing appear questionable. On the one hand, the large number of devices that the victim of the case is said to have acquired is enormous. It is questionable whether the Apple Store actually sells such quantities of devices “in one go”, especially since Apple actually has special departments for sales to small businesses.

In addition, the robbery is said to have taken place at 1:45 in the morning. The man deliberately used the store, which is open 24 hours a day, for his bulk purchase at such an unusual time to avoid the risk of being mugged, the report said.
