Apple was compelled to permit external payment methods for in-app purchases

The United States District Court for the Northern District of California decided in the Apple v. Epic Games case that Apple must permit developers to put links to outside payment processors in their applications. Apple appealed the decision to the US Supreme Court, postponing the change’s implementation.

As of right now, the US Supreme Court has decided not to consider Apple’s appeal, upholding the initial ruling. As a result, Apple will have to permit developers to add links to external payment processors within their apps. Considering that, a lot of developers will probably stop using the App Store and utilize their own payment methods instead. This implies that Apple won’t receive a commission from them. As a result, Apple will no longer make as much money from the app distribution platform.

Apple is now going through some difficult times. Sales of Mac and iPad devices have decreased. Additionally, researchers have projected that China will see a decline in iPhone model sales. Apple’s stock price is declining as a result. This has also contributed to Microsoft’s rise to the top of the global valuation rankings. The corporation has suffered more setbacks following the announcement of the anti-steering policy, which will also have an impact on the internet giant’s stock price. Apple has not yet provided a response to the court’s ruling.
