Apple will add a more cheap variant and an improved version of the AirPods Max to its lineup
Later this year, we can expect some new additions to the famous AirPods wireless earphone series by Apple. According to analyst Jeff Pu, Apple is working on a budget-friendly option for its AirPods series. According to Pu’s claim, a Foxconn affiliate will be involved in production, with a planned ramp-up at an Indian factory by late 2024.
Well, these rumors are consistent with previous reports shared by Mark Gurman. According to him, the company might debut two different versions of the standard AirPods later this year in September or October. Reportedly, these versions are codenamed B768E and B768M referring to the entry and mid-tier version, respectively.
According to Gurman, the new models will carry several design improvements that will contribute to better sound quality, a USB-C charging case, and better fit. Active noise cancellation (ANC) and a speaker embedded in the charging case to facilitate Find My Location tracking are potential upgrades on the more expensive of these upgraded variants.
There is no word on whether the information shared by Pu regarding the budget-focused model coincides with the information shared by Gurman about the entry-level 4th-generation AirPods. Nevertheless, it appears likely that Apple’s audio lineup will soon include a more affordable option.
Gurman reported that in May, the mass production of the AirPods 4 is expected to begin. Reportedly, GoeraTek and LuxShare will work on this. The new AirPods 4 is expected to arrive alongside the iPhone 16 series. In addition to this, several rumors point out that in Q4 2024, the premium AirPods Max will be updated as well. From the update perspective, the changes are minor including new color options and the addition of a USB-C charging port. We can expect it to arrive in Green, Pink, Silver, Sky Blue, and Space Gray colors.
