Apple’s schedule until 2028: These 11 MacBooks & Macs are planned

In the coming months, Apple plans to update its Mac offering. A fresh report reveals numerous new models by 2028. In addition to new chips, laptops will also have OLED touchscreens for the first time.

New Macs for the AI boom

After Apple recently increased the prices of its current devices, there have been some reports about upcoming MacBooks. This should also include the MacBook Ultra, which could be the first laptop from Cupertino to come onto the market with a tandem OLED and touchscreen. Now a roadmap has leaked that reveals when buyers can expect the new flagship laptop as well as many other fresh models. A total of 11 new models are expected to come onto the market by 2028.

It starts in autumn 2026 with an updated 14-inch MacBook Pro as an entry-level model and new iMacs. The devices should be equipped with the new M6 processor. However, there will probably be no major optical adjustments to the computers.

According to internal information, the development of the first wave has already been completed. The iMac retains its familiar flat design in various color variants, introduced in 2021.

First MacBook with a touchscreen

According to a report by Bloomberg Things will be particularly interesting at the turn of the year 2026 to 2027. Then the already mentioned, completely redesigned MacBook Ultra will appear in 14 and 16 inches. In addition to the OLED panel, the device could also have a thinner housing. Internally, the developers are already testing the system with MacOS 27.1. Plans call for further publications from 2027 onwards.

A MacBook Air with an M6 chip in 13 and 15 inches is expected to follow in spring 2027. A refreshed MacBook Neo with an A19 Pro processor is planned for later this year. At the end of 2027 there will be a 14-inch MacBook Pro in a new design with an M7 chip. From 2028, the first versions of MacBook Air and iMac with OLED displays will round off the wide range of hardware.

Desktop supply bottlenecks

However, the schedule for the Mac Mini and Mac Studio remains uncertain. The models are very popular with users, but suffer from supply bottlenecks for memory components. In order to strengthen production, Apple has also been manufacturing the Mac Mini in Houston, Texas, since February 2026. However, delivery times for some models are currently up to three months. Alleged releases are planned for the end of 2026 or beginning of 2027.
