The Taiwanese manufacturer ASRock is mainly known for its motherboards, but also for PCs intended for industry and home cinema. The company, which is owned by contract manufacturer Pegatron, will soon be expanding its portfolio and selling gaming monitors.
ASRock is a name PC gamers know and love, and Taiwanese motherboards have a good to excellent reputation. And that reputation now wants to be tapped or expanded, because the company apparently wants to offer multiple monitors at the same time. Like the Twitter account @momomo_us reported (via TechPowerUp), ASRock will soon launch with two corresponding devices, which will be numbered PG34WQ15R and PG27FF.
Both have “PG” in their names, no doubt referring to Phantom Gaming, the marketing term for ASRock’s top hardware. It pursues the goal of “providing gamers, professionals and PC enthusiasts with a premium line of products,” as the company explains.
The release of the monitors can now be considered confirmed as both have already appeared on different certification lists, meaning a release is imminent. Both monitors seem to work with AMD FreeSync and appear in the correct Overview from the chip and graphics card manufacturer. The model with the number PG34WQ15R has a VA panel with 34 inches and a resolution of 3440 x 1440 pixels, and the refresh rate is up to 165 Hz The latter can only be done via DisplayPort connection, it is only up to 100 Hz via HMDI HDR support is also specified.
Prices are not yet known, but it can be assumed that this monitor will not be cheap. The PG27FF, on the other hand, should be more affordable, as there is a 27-inch IPS panel with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and a refresh rate of 165 Hz, HDR is also mentioned here. This monitor will likely come in three variants, but it’s unclear how they differ from each other.
