Assassin’s Creed Hexe: Game is set to take place in a well-known German city

A new leak about Assassin’s Creed Hexe now reveals more details about the upcoming action adventure. In addition to the specific setting in 17th century Germany, a well-known character from the series will also celebrate his return.
New leak reveals location
Ubisoft is currently relying on remakes of older games to find its way out of the crisis. Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced was well received when it was announced. The French publisher is also said to be working on another new edition of part of the series. An unconfirmed report now also provides concrete clues about Assassin’s Creed Hexe, one of the brand new titles in the saga. Accordingly, the game is set in the German city of Würzburg between 1625 and 1631. During this time, historically documented witch trials took place there, which were among the largest in Europe under Prince-Bishop Philipp Adolf von Ehrenberg.
According to the information, the gameplay is shifting heavily to wooded areas in addition to Würzburg. Players should be able to move from branch to branch by jumping. Alchemy, blood pacts and the use of poison are also mentioned as central game elements. NPCs are said to react significantly more sensitively to suspicious behavior than in their predecessors.
Old acquaintances return
At the center of the story is supposedly a protagonist named Anika. She is a direct descendant of Claudia Auditore. This connects the new main character with the Italian brotherhood, which was active in Renaissance Italy. According to the leaker, through the family line Rogue The well-known master assassin Ezio Auditore also made an appearance. According to the rumors, he appears as an aged mentor who guides Anika. Whether this occurs in the form of flashbacks or as a spiritual apparition remains unclear. Ezio died in Florence in 1524, which rules out a direct meeting in Würzburg. Apparently, however, there are already concrete lines of dialogue that prove a conversation between the two and in which Ezio addresses the family legacy.
Difficult development
While the narrative direction takes firm shape, the project’s development appears to be bumpy. In the past few months, two executives, Clint Hocking and Benoit Richer, left the team. Under the leadership of Jean Guesdon, the concept was apparently revised. The focus was shifted away from purely supernatural abilities and placed more emphasis on realistic stealth mechanics. The witch hunt scenario provides the basis for a dark atmosphere.
The historic Würzburg witch trials claimed an estimated 900 victims from all walks of life. The inclusion of such facts could add narrative depth to the game. On the other hand, the personnel changes in the development team indicate internal difficulties that could burden the final product. The internal target for the release of Assassin’s Creed Hexe is currently mid or late 2027.
