More than 65 new films and series will be released on Prime Video in August. Amazon’s highlights include Batman, Perfectly Missed, Jackpot! and new episodes of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. Our overview shows all new releases and dates.
Cartoons, fantasy and lots of laughs
In August, Prime Video will launch the new animated series Batman: Caped Crusader. “The series is a reinterpretation of the Batman mythology through the visionary lens of executive producer JJ Abrams, Matt Reeves and Bruce Timm,” says Amazon. Fantasy fans, on the other hand, can look forward to the second season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, in which Sauron returns. There will also be the third season of the crime drama The Mallorca Files and the new comedy series Perfekt Verpasst with Bastian Pastewka and Anke Engelke. And if you haven’t laughed enough yet, you can watch the action comedy Jackpot! Starring: Awkwafina, John Cena and Simu Liu.
We then take a look at the so-called licensed titles, films and series that Amazon was able to secure at least for a limited time. These include the Hobbit series, Atomic Blonde, The Greatest Showman, Suicide Squad, Prakti.com, Bohemian Rhapsody, Wonder Woman (1984) and Ted. Live sports: From August 20, Prime Video will broadcast the UEFA Champions League, starting with the playoff games before the group stage draw. Apart from that, everything will remain the same, i.e. Amazon will also broadcast the top match of the UEFA Champions League live on Tuesday in the 2024/25 season.
