Avengers: Doomsday: The official trailer shows epic Marvel action

There it is: Contrary to expectations, Marvel Entertainment has released the first real trailer for Avengers: Doomsday not just at San Diego Comic-Con in a few days, but today. Fans can now take a longer look at the eagerly awaited superhero spectacle, which opens in cinemas in December.

New final boss in the MCU

To date, Avengers: Endgame (2019) is without a doubt considered the highlight of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Avengers: Endgame could raise the bar once again – for several reasons. In the film, well-known heroes from three different universes (Fantastic Four, Avengers and X-Men) meet for the first time and team up against a common enemy. As has been known for a long time, this is Victor von Doom aka Doctor Doom.

His exact plans remain obscure, but in the trailer we can finally take a better look at the iconic Marvel villain. Behind his mask is none other than Robert Downey Jr., who returns to the MCU after Iron Man’s death, just no longer as a hero. The preview also shows many more members of the massive Marvel ensemble coming together under the leadership of a (pretty serious) Thor. While the God of Thunder is once again played by Chris Hemsworth, other stars are also returning to their familiar roles.

Huge star line-up

These include Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson, Letitia Wright as Black Panther, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Ian McKellen as Magneto, James Marsden as Cyclops and many, many more. A special highlight will also be the return of Chris Evans in his role as Steve Rogers/Captain America, after he actually voluntarily left the hero business by traveling through time in Endgame. How exactly the reunion will happen remains unclear.

Cinema release in December

Avengers: Doomsday, like Endgame, is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo. The film was also produced by Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito and Jonathan Schwartz. The cinema release in Germany is on December 16, 2026, in the USA on December 18, 2026.
