AVM integrates latency display to FritzApp WLAN

The router specialist AVM has released a minor update for the FritzApp WLAN for Android smartphones. Users can now use the app to view latency in the “WLAN Measurement” report. Nothing is known about other innovations. So it’s just a minor feature update. The release notes are very short this time. According to AVM, the report “WLAN measurement” has been extended with the practical function of the latency display.

This means that the Android app now has additional analysis points that FritzBox users would otherwise only be able to see in the web view under fritzbox. The new version for Android has build number 2.12.2. The update is now available in the Google Play Store and should therefore gradually reach all users automatically. The link to the app can be found at the end of the post, along with the release notes. The update is always recommended to all users.

According to AVM, there are security-related changes with every app update. AVM asks users of the app for feedback about the application. Improvement suggestions and feature requests are also welcome.

The WiFi app will work

The FritzApp WLAN makes it easy to monitor all access points in the home network with a clear display. There are also different overviews for FritzWLAN repeaters, FritzPowerline adapters, and FritzBoxes, with which you can easily and conveniently measure the WLAN throughput. Users can also find information about existing FritzOS updates for all network devices. The release notes have been kept short and sweet:

FritzApp WLAN (Android) version 2.12.2

  • Improvement: The latency is also mentioned in the “Measure WiFi” report

To use the Fritz WLAN app, you need to allow some shares on the smartphone. This includes access to the microphone, camera function, and device ID. AVM explains why this is the case (among other things because Google makes the releases the standard). Google play store
