AVM, the well-known German manufacturer of network products, is currently distributing a new firmware update for the FritzBox 7690 – it is only the second update for the still young router. The update to FritzOS 7.62 is now available for owners of the DSL flagship. According to official information from the manufacturer, the update focuses mainly on “provider-specific adjustments” – nothing more is actually mentioned. AVM does not provide any concrete details about the changes. It can be assumed that the adjustments are intended to improve the compatibility and performance of the FritzBox 7690 with various Internet providers.
The update is available in several languages. In addition to German, users can also access English, French, Italian, Dutch, Polish and Spanish versions. This underlines AVM’s commitment to making its products accessible to a broad international audience. The new firmware can be easily installed via the FritzBox user interface. Users should check their device’s settings for available updates and follow the on-screen instructions.
The FritzBox 7690 is AVM’s current top model in the DSL segment. It supports speeds of up to 300 Mbit/s on the DSL connection and can be used in all common DSL networks. A special feature is the support of the new Wi-Fi 7 standard, which is used in both the 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz bands.
Thanks to the 4×4 MIMO technology with a total of eight antennas, the FritzBox 7690 achieves WLAN speeds of up to 7.2 GBit/s. This represents a doubling of the performance compared to the previous model and makes the 7690 a future-proof solution for demanding home networks.
The FritzBox 7690 is also well equipped for wired connections. It has two 2.5 gigabit LAN ports, one of which can be used as a WAN port for connecting a fiber optic modem. In addition, there are two gigabit LAN ports available that enable a fast and reliable connection to other network devices. If you are already using them: What are your experiences with the FritzBox 7690? Have you already installed the new update and noticed improvements? Feel free to share your impressions in the comments!
