CES 2023: Samsung Announces New TV Lineup For 2023

Samsung is using CES 2023 as a platform to talk about its TV lineup for 2023. The manufacturer is promising a large number of new 4K and 8K televisions with mini and micro-LED technology as well as OLED panels. True to the motto: Bigger, brighter, more AI.

Samsung’s OLED TVs are getting brighter

The focus of the upcoming TV models is Samsung’s OLED family, which this year will not only be available in 55 and 65-inch formats but also as a 77-inch model. The display department of the South Koreans announced in advance that the brightness of the Samsung S95C (2023) could be increased up to 2000 nits.

In addition, there is a refresh rate of up to 144 Hz and an improved Neural Quantum processor. For the first time, the OLED televisions are also equipped with AMD FreeSync Premium certification. However, Dolby Vision is still left out in favor of its own HDR10+ standard.

New Mini LED TVs and large Micro LED portfolio

Samsung is expanding the segment of the Neo QLED family with mini-LED lighting with additional 4K and 8K TV sets. The Neural Quantum processor is also used here, which, according to the manufacturer, should enable “a lifelike, three-dimensional image” thanks to 14-bit processing and AI upscaling functions (e.g. Shape Adaptive Light Control and Real Depth Enhancer Pro). With the help of the Auto HDR remastering technique, HDR effects are also to be applied to SDR content in order to brighten it up and make it more lively. The maximum brightness is said to be up to 4000 nits for mini LED flagships.

Apart from the OLED portfolio, Samsung is continuing to invest in its micro-LED technology, which is 2023 for the first time in diagonals from 50 to 140 inches could perhaps even reach the average consumer. However, the prices remain to be seen. Once it was in the range of around $95,000. The manufacturer does not disclose many details in advance, apart from the usual marketing phrases about the impressive image quality. However, one speaks of a borderless design and “seamless transition from the screen to the real environment”.

Prices and Availability

Similar to LG, Samsung is reticent about the exact model names and prices of the individual devices during the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. If the company sticks to its usual product cycles, the new 4K and 8K televisions with mini-LED, micro-LED, and OLED technology are likely to hit Europe in the course of spring 2023. Prices are usually officially communicated by Samsung a few weeks in advance.
