Chrome’s autofill history feature has made it easier to clear history

Although Chrome’s compatibility with Android is one of its best features, you don’t necessarily want to sync all of your data with Google’s servers. For instance, Chrome’s autofill feature is useful for remembering login information, addresses, and credit card information, but it may also recognize text you type into search fields on some websites and then offer it as a suggestion the next time you click on a text field that looks similar. Although deleting this autocomplete data has always been challenging, things are now becoming simpler.

Previously, you had to access Chrome’s settings menu and remove things from the Autofill submenu in order to eliminate autofill suggestions, but this only functioned for saved passwords, credit cards, and addresses. You could only highlight the suggestion and then click Shift+Delete on your keyboard to delete the items Chrome automatically added after you used specific text input fields and search boxes on some websites, which isn’t the most obvious way to delete history.

Deleting Autofill history

A new feature in Chrome for desktop that allows you to quickly delete autofill history was discovered by browser expert Leopeva64. After the feature is enabled, you may quickly erase any item from the autofill popup by clicking the trash can icon next to it, which will immediately remove it from your history.

Only Chrome versions 113.0.5626.0 and higher, which are presently available on the Chrome Canary channel, support the feature. Before you can use the autofill delete button, you must first enable a feature flag accessible at chrome and restart your browser. This option will eventually be available in Chrome’s beta and stable release channels because Google has been working on this feature for a few weeks.
