Claude Fable 5: Anthropic extends free access for a second time

Anthropic is once again granting a reprieve to paying users of the Claude Fable 5 AI model. Subscribers can now use the resource-hungry voice system at no additional cost until July 19, 2026. The company then plans to make adjustments.

Deadline for AI model extended

The Anthropic development team is giving paying users more time to test the current Claude Fable 5 language model for a second time. Pro, Max, Team plan subscribers and certain Enterprise customers can use the system without additional fees until July 19, 2026. Originally, the integration into regular subscriptions was supposed to end earlier.

Offer works for eligible accounts without separate activation. Users simply select the model in the user interface menu and can get started straight away. A disadvantage for users is the extremely high resource consumption of the complex system. You may spend a maximum of 50 percent of your standard weekly quota on Fable 5. The model exhausts the allocated limit much more quickly than older versions.

High costs and quotas

Once the set limit is reached, customers are faced with a decision. You will either have to switch to an older model or purchase additional paid credits to continue working with the new system. Loud Bleeping computers The promotion strictly excludes users of the free basic version. Standard enterprise licenses and direct API access are also excluded from the extended free period. The move highlights a general trend in the artificial intelligence industry.

Since the operation of modern flagship models requires immense data centers, providers are increasingly moving away from unlimited flat rates. Instead, they are testing hybrid pricing models that combine fixed basic fees with usage-based payments. In order to conserve capacity, companies often restrict access to particularly powerful systems.

Return with more capacity

The repeated postponement of the payment barrier caused dissatisfaction among many subscribers, as they could be asked to pay extra in the future for a service they had already paid for. One advantage of the current extension is that ongoing projects can be completed for the time being without unexpected invoices.

In the long term, Anthropic plans to permanently include Fable 5 in regular subscriptions. This should happen as soon as the company has enough of its own computing power worldwide. Until then, July 19, 2026 remains the provisional deadline for free use. Unless you think about it a third time – which depends on the server load.
