1.3 million Clubhouse users’ data leaked via fake ads

After Facebook, data of 1.3 million Clubhouse users was leaked. The app is new compared to Facebook and is popularizing among the masses due to its unique features. But this latest update might put the company in trouble.

The news was recently shared by PhoneArena, where it informed that 1.3 million Clubhouse users’ data was leaked. The app is only available for iOS users, and is sign-up is only on an invite basis.

The source noted that the leak could be due to some fake ads on Facebook, which tempted users to join Clubhouse for PC. Since there has no Android or PC version of this app, users must have rushed to sign-up using that fake ad. After going to the ad page, the culprit lets the user’s device through a hidden passage to collect the user’s data.

It is further said that the ads have been removed but at the cost of 1.3 million users’s data.

The leaked data from Clubhouse includes the user ID, name, photo URL, username, Twitter handle, Instagram handle, number of followers, number of people followed by the user, account creation date, in addition to invitees data.

Not only this, the culprits have spread this data on the internet just for free.

In response to this, the company said that they hadn’t had a data breach. The company also added that the leaked information is available for free via its API, which doesn’t make things much better.
