Cycle tracking based on skin temperature is now available with Galaxy Watch 5

Various products for tracking natural cycles are available in the market. Some recent pieces of information suggest that the Galaxy Watch 5 will soon receive a new update from Samsung that integrates the smartwatch’s skin temperature sensor with menstrual cycle tracking. The feature will be introduced in phases. The updates will be rolled out via the Samsung Health app. Initially, the updates will be released in the USA, Korea, and 30 countries across Europe.

The Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 5 Pro are provided with skin temperature sensors. The new updates will permit precise menstrual cycle tracking by making use of the Galaxy Watch 5’s skin temperature sensor. Previously, one of the limitations of the skin temperature sensor was that it could not be used freely like the heart-rate monitor. Rather it worked in the background.

Improved Cycle Tracking through Samsung Health

Samsung has now developed new, more precise methods of tracking menstrual cycles. With each phase of the menstrual cycle, the basal body temperature varies. The new improvement enables tracking the skin temperature after waking up and before physical activities. As soon as the updates roll out, users can activate them on the Samsung Health app. Just add your recent cycle information to the calendar. Tun on the “Predict period with skin temp” in the settings menu.

With time, the company will introduce the feature in more regions. However, there is no detail on when that happens.
