Disney+ with Ads is now available on Roku

Exciting news for fans of Disney+. Now Disney+ is available on Roku. Four months ago, Disney+ introduced its ad-supported plan. Whether the two companies have signed a deal or not is unknown. It indicates that Roku users will now have access to Disney+ with or without ads. In addition to this, Roku users can access any of the Disney+ bundles. None of the two companies have shared the details about this recent development.

Disney+ with Ads could increase its subscriber numbers

It is speculated that with the ad-supported plan, Disney+ would gain more subscribers. Back in 2019, before the onset of the pandemic, Disney+ was introduced. It helped the platform gather a huge number of users. it was quite a success that the five-year target was achieved in just a few months. However, with the end of the pandemic, many users have canceled their Disney+ subscription. For this reason, ad versions come into play.

An ad-supported version will help the company get more money from Ads. It will bring in more users for the platform. A report from March said that in December, 20% of Disney+ signups were for the advertisements tier. Hence, in its first 30 days on the market, it has outperformed other AVOD options from Netflix and HBO MAX. For Disney, that is really astounding.

Roku is well-known for selling its products at high prices. Currently, the company is not doing good in the hardware segment. It is the ads that could generate revenue for the company. The company generates money either via Roku Channel or from other apps on the platform. It appears that Disney+ provided Roku with what is required. It could be possible a portion of the ad revenue. It is similar to the pattern followed by other apps on Roku.
