Dummy shows Apple’s smartphone in a larger Plus version

Apple is working on a new special edition of its iPhone. A lot is now known about the device through leaks. However, fresh dummy images now show the smartphone in two different sizes. Will there be an “iPhone SE 4 Plus”?

The Japanese Apple Blog Macotakara has published images of device dummies in a new post that supposedly show the iPhone SE 4. The site is known for showing and discussing relevant material before the release of new Apple products to give an idea of ​​what customers can expect. It is important to mention that the dummies are not examples that come from the Apple environment.

They come from the 3D printer and are probably based on the previous rumors about the iPhone SE 4. So the primary aim is not to leak new functions or designs, but to give an impression of what the device could look like.

Previous leaks confirmed

For these reasons, it is not surprising that the dummy confirms the data from all previous leaks. The exterior of the phone is similar to the iPhone 14. It measures 146.7 mm x 71.5 mm x 7.8 mm and has a 6.1-inch display, which according to current knowledge is an OLED panel should. What is noticeable is the smaller cutout at the top of the screen for the camera and the Face ID system, which is likely to be installed instead of Touch ID.

There is a single camera on the back. Instead of an action button as seen on newer iPhone models, there is a mute switch above the volume buttons. With these specs, the rumored iPhone SE 4 will fit snugly into an iPhone 14 case, although the square cutout is unnecessarily large for the dual camera setup.

Larger “Plus” model

However, a second dummy that the article shows is particularly interesting. This is a kind of “Plus” model of the iPhone SE. With a 6.7-inch screen, it is significantly larger than the normal variant of the smartphone. Apart from the size, there don’t seem to be any other changes.

The blog mentions that no final decision has been made about the size expansion and it is quite possible that there will only be a single size for the iPhone SE 4. Since there have been no leaks or information about a corresponding “Plus” model, it seems unlikely that Apple is actually working on an enlarged version of the special edition iPhone. However, this cannot be completely ruled out.

It is also questionable whether there is even a market for a large version of the iPhone SE. Many users particularly appreciate the model’s compact form factor. The iPhone SE 4 will probably be presented in spring 2025. It will be the first update for the series since the release of the iPhone SE 3 in 2022.
