Facebook Developing Instagram-like Close Friends Feature

Facebook is developing an Instagram-like feature for Messenger that will allow users to share the info with close friends. The feature is in the development phase under “Favorites,” name. The app researcher Jane Manchun Wong discovered it.
Through Facebook Favorites, you need to manually add certain friends in your inner circle. You will be directly able to share your story or camera post with your close friends.

Favorites will allow people to share more on Facebook without thinking about a whole list of casual acquaintances you don’t want to share pics or stories with.
This will also help in ensuring that Facebook becomes a more privacy-focused communication platform.
There is a similar feature on Facebook called Friends lists. It lets you sort your Facebook friends into Close Friends, Acquaintances, and Restricted.

The favorite will also a similar approach with a list of preferred friends quite similar to Instagram’s Close Friends feature.
This new Favorites feature of Facebook is presently in the prototyping stage. The company has not even started testing the feature internally. It means that a lot might be added and changed to it before it is officially released.
