FritzOS 8.40 & 8.25: New firmware for 4 routers & FritzSmart Gateway

Fritz opens the doors to his laboratory again. Three routers will receive fresh beta firmware this weekend. There is also a first test version for the FritzSmart Gateway. A few days ago a FritzBox also received the big update to FritzOS 8.25.

Beta updates for three routers

Towards the end of the week, Fritz is once again distributing new firmware updates. Over the course of the week there were supplies from the laboratory as well as stable firmware for some FritzBox models. Now the Berlin company is upping the ante and providing three routers with a fresh beta in the form of FritzOS 8.40. The update is now available for the following devices:

  • FritzBox 7690 – Version: 8.40-134832
  • FritzBox 7590AX – Version: 8.40-134736
  • FritzBox 7590 – Version: 8.40-134830
  • After the routers had already received the initial laboratory update for this round, the current update is again minor. In the area of ​​telephony, all three models only require network adaptation (Deutsche Telekom).

    Test firmware for smart home

    At the beginning of the week there was also this Fritz Smart Gateway celebrated its debut in the current Fritz laboratory and received its first version of FritzOS 8.40 (134668). In addition to improvements and bug fixes, it also brings three new functions to the smart home device:

  • NEW: If the “Switch off on overload” function is activated, sockets are switched off after a set period of time if a specified power is exceeded
  • NEW: The if-then link of a routine can be created with multiple triggers
  • NEW: Brightness measurements are made available in a Matter network
  • Improvement: Display of statistics when changing counters
  • Improvement: Zigbee stability
  • Fixed: Pairing of Zigbee temperature sensors and radiator controllers was lost
  • Fixed: Current Zigbee color settings were not displayed in the user interface after a restart
  • More FritzBox receives stable FritzOS
