The technology world always refers to the smartphone flagships of the respective manufacturers. This is not a surprise, of course, because it contains the very latest technology in the latest and premium devices. But customers are increasingly using affordable devices, the devices that are adequate in technology and performance, then why spending on premium prices is the consumer’s choice around the world.
It is certainly not a secret or groundbreaking finding that smartphones for 1000 dollars or even more are exciting, but the average user cannot or does not want to spend as much money. The latest figures from Strategy Analytics also fit into the picture: According to the latest figures from market researchers, the Samsung Galaxy A51 was the world’s most popular Android smartphone in the first quarter of the year.
With around six million devices sold, the Samsung smartphone, available for just under $320, reached the worldwide market share of 2.3 percent. According to Strategy Analytics, the device is particularly popular in Europe and Asia. This is followed by the Xiaomi Redmi 8, here the market researchers stated a share of 1.9 percent.
The first (and also the only) high-priced smartphone in the Strategy Analytics list comes in third place, the Samsung Galaxy S20+ came in at 1.7 percent. The other places also went to entry-level devices, because behind the S20+ are the Samsung Galaxy A10, Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 and Galaxy A20s.
According to the market researchers, the trend towards more affordable devices will continue: on the one hand, mobile phone operators have been increasingly subsidizing expensive models for some years, on the other hand, customers are becoming more and more price-conscious due to the corona-related recession. Buyers are looking for the best price/performance ratio more than ever.
