Gboard now offers an AI-powered Proofread feature to correct your grammatical errors

Gboard is listed among the best keyboards on Android. Over the course of time, the company has added new and advanced tools to the Gbaord. Reportedly, the company is going to improve the Gbaord with the addition of a new feature. According to recent pieces of information, the company has added a new proofreading feature powered by generative AI to latest beta version of Gboard. As the name indicates, the new feature can check for spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors. Such a tool eliminates the use of third-party services like Grammarly.

The folks at 9To5Google report that the new feature can be found under the Gboard’s toolbar. Simply tap on it, and the tool will generate a revised version of the text by removing all the potential spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors. You can replace your content with the new version by tapping the thumbs-up button if you like the updated version. If not, you can dismiss it by clicking the thumbs-down button.

In addition to the Proofread option, a Fix it button is also available. It helps to fix the errors in the content. It doesn’t require the users to accept or decline the changes rather it automatically corrects them. Well, this raises a question of how the two Proofread’ and ‘Fix it’ options are different from one another.

Do note that the two features are currently in the beta testing stage and there is no clue on when these features will make it to the stable version of the app. Generative AI features, however, require substantial testing, therefore it takes time for them to become available to the general public. In the future, other companies like Samsung might also incorporate such features in Samsung’s keyboards.
