Gboard is installed by default on many Android devices. When new features are added to the default keyboard, it is very noticeable throughout the entire device system. Google is working on these right now, and it has spent a significant amount of time redesigning the shortcut toolbar in its popular keyboard. Now these features are ready for the show and are being rolled out to beta testers.
In the old version of Gboard, there was a 3-dot menu at the right-hand corner of the keyboard on the top that was used as a tool to customize the keyboard. In the latest update, the three-dot option is moved to the left side of the menu and replaced with a button containing squares with rounded corners.
The latest features show up as you tap on the latest design menu button. There are two new options: an emoji and a language switcher. As the icons appear in the overflow menu, you can drag them into any position. You can also change which option appears first when you open the keyboard.
You can add as many shortcuts as you want to the toolbar instead of four like in the previous version. The major change in this latest keyboard is the voice search button. To customize, drag the item of your choice into the menu, along with a variation in the microphone icon.
One thing in this latest version is the same as the older version: you are unable to alter the voice search button.
This latest update is also adding a privacy menu to our Google accounts. This option hasn’t received any major amendments, but it’s available in the advanced settings panel. However, it can provide a handy experience for dealing with Google’s data collection.
All of these features are available in beta version 12.6.06.491625702. There are some limitations to it, according to the server-side component that will provide a limited reach. You can access the beta channel in two ways: by clicking the “Join” button on the Gboard page in the Google Play store, or by downloading the most recent version from APKMirror.
