Google collaborating with Samsung to bring enhanced messaging to Android

In order to offer enhanced smartphone messaging experience to Android users, Google has started collaborating with Samsung as part of their industry initiative towards global Rich Communication Services (RCS).

The collaboration will allow Android messages and Samsung messages to work seamlessly together with RCS messaging. This will enable several features including the ability to chat over WiFi, see typing indicators, create rich group chats, and read receipts just like WhatsApp, and obviously share high-res photos and videos across the platforms, Google said in a blog post.

As part of this collaboration, Samsung is set to bring RCS features to its existing product line starting from Galaxy S8 and S8 plus, however, the new smartphones from Samsung will natively support RCS messaging.
