Google introduces the biggest Pixel Feature Drop including the Pixel Watch
The December software updates of Google for Pixel phone are quite special. Since it accompanies the recent Pixel feature Drop. Additionally, this update is marked as one of the biggest of all time. It consists of some features recently introduced for Pixel Watch.
The December Pixel Feature Drop is equipped with a VPN by Google One. The VPN is designed to ensure that network traffic doesn’t tie up with the user’s identity. Initially, this service was provided to Google One members having Platinum plans (2TB and higher). As of now, it’s available for Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro users irrespective of their subscription status to Google One.
Unified security and privacy settings
The security and privacy settings have been integrated into the Android Settings. The new section now holds some action cards. These cards notify the users about potential security risks. Furthermore, it presents some instructions to eliminate such risks.
Clear Calling
The Clear Calling feature of Pixel 7 and 7 Pro improves the voice of another caller. It works by reducing the background noise. Thus, enabling clear hearing even if the caller is present in some noisy place.
The Pixel Recorder
Given the speaker changes, the Pixel Recorder can now identify as well as label each speaker. It also has some line breaks. Well, this is quite helpful while recording an interview or meeting where each person will be labeled differently. It is based on machine learning. Furthermore, users can re-label speakers even after completing their recordings.
Fitbit Sleep Profile feature on Pixel Watch
For new Pixel Watch users, the Fitbit Sleep Profile feature is available free for six months. Followed by this free trial, the users are required to keep up their subscriptions in order to enjoy the features.
Sleep Profiles
Sleep Profiles provide users with a high-definition picture of their sleep quality. It considers duration, consistency, and disruption during sleep. It presents the users with the image of an animal with whom their sleep style matches up. To enjoy this feature, users are required to wear their Pixel Watch to bed for at least 14 days each month. This way users will get details on monthly basis.
Cough and Snore detection
Pixel 6 and 6 Pro are going to receive cough and snore detection. It could be accessed via Bedtime mode. Additionally, new wallpapers and tiles including a Sunrise/Sunset tile are also added. Users can pin five contacts in the Contacts app. This way users could call them and view the details with just a tap.

- Live Translate can translate texts in several languages: Arabic, Persian, Swedish, Vietnamese, and Danish (on Pixel 6 and newer)
- Powerful on-device search [on the Pixel 4a and later]
- Voice Message Transcription [Pixel 4a and newer phones as well]
- support for spatial audio with Pixel Buds Pro as well as with wired headphones [Pixel 6, 6 Pro, 7, and 7 Pro]
- Digital car keys [Currently, this feature works across Pixel and iPhone, but soon it will be accessible on select phones with Android 12+]
Given these recent updates, it might require some days, if not weeks, for the December update to feature on all supported devices. Till then wait patiently.
